Boy, I had no idea it was a War. Here is a recent letter I received from a regular reader who seems to know if our media has been bad or good:
To the Editor of TheMSRP:
It’s December, which means it’s time for Fox News to trot out its annual War on The Holidays campaign. The non-secular, non-humanists at that network are becoming more overt in their efforts to subvert the true meaning of the season with every attack on The Holidays. It’s time to wake up, people, before Happy Holidays is added to the dustbin of American linguistic history.
Slowly but surely, the network has quietly advanced its anti-Happy Holidays agenda, but now they are publicly calling for everyone to stop saying Happy Holidays completely. If you love the Holidays, it is time to stand up to these jack-booted thugs and declare, New Years Day has rights too!
I have been accused in this publication in years past of harboring a persecution complex. I have been accused of crying “Victim!” every time Bill O’Reilly refused to wish me a Happy Holiday. When Sean Hannity stopped wishing me Seasons Greetings, the readers of this fine blog thought I was paranoid. I will be accepting their apologies now that the anti-Happy Holidays campaign is fully exposed. They are systematically trying to remove New Years from our holiday observance.
True believers in New Years (as well as Christmas, Chanukah, 50% off Door Buster Savings and the winter solstice) will no longer sit silently while Happy Holidays is trivialized and marginalized. This exceptional nation was founded on the belief that all men (and one hundred plus years later, women) were free to pursuit life, liberty and happiness. Happy Holidays is therefore practically embedded in our Declaration of Independence, and we will aggressively pursue a Happy Holiday season. Just try and rip that free pursuit from our cold, dead hands.
Shame on you, Fox News. Bill O’Reilly ought to name his next book, Killing The Holidays.
Let’s stand up for Happy Holidays and be happy. It’s almost New Year’s Day and time for a celebration of food, fraternity and football. Now ain’t that America for you and me.
